A new peer-reviewed article was published by the journal PLOS ONE that describes the results of the first ever national survey of jobs and economic activity associated with ecological restoration.   At a time when jobs are a top priority for decision makers in Washington, DC and state capitals across the country, conservation, mitigation banking, and restoration industry advocates can now argue with authority that environmental spending and regulation create significant economic activity and support over 220,000 jobs each year; more than either logging or iron and steel mills.  The project was originated and organized by EIP partner Adam Davis, and the research was conducted by a team at the City and Regional Planning department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  Funding for the research was provided by The Conservation Fund, the Blue Moon Fund, and the Walton Family Foundation.
