Caloosahatchee Mitigation Bank

The proposed Mitigation Service Area for the CALOOSAHATCHEE MITIGATION BANK is the Caloosahatchee River and Peace River HUC 8 watershed boundaries also encompassing the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) West Caloosahatchee River basin for Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) permitting. The Caloosahatchee River and Peace River HUC – 8 watersheds and ERP basin both consist mainly of Southwestern Florida Flatwoods (75B) Eco-Region. The CMB contributes to aquatic resource integrity downstream within Prairie Creek, a Class I Waterbody, Shell Creek, a Class I Waterbody, the Babcock/Webb Wildlife Management Area, Peace River, and downgradient Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve, an Outstanding Florida Waterbody. The CMB also contributes to aquatic resource protection and improvement to the Caloosahatchee River, a Class I Waterbody, and downstream San Carlos Bay, a Class II waterbody with surrounding designated Aquatic Preserves including Pine Island Sound, Matlacha Pass, and Estero Bay. The USGS 8-digit HUC for CMB is Caloosahatchee River: HUC 03090205 and the Peace River: HUC 03100101.
