The BARNES PRAIRIE MITIGATION BANK (“BPMB”), located on nearly 400 acres in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, was approved in 2022 and provides offsets for wetland impacts in the greater Milwaukee area. The BPMB falls under the Federal jurisdiction of the St. Paul District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and services the Southwestern Lake Michigan Bank Service Area (“BSA”). The BSA encompasses 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 04040002 watershed (Pike-Root Rivers), the HUC-8 04040002 watershed (Milwaukee), and 10-digit HUC 0404000204 (Pike River Frontal Lake Michigan Watershed). The BSA falls within 9 counties: Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Dodge, Waukesha, Washington, Sheboygan, and Milwaukee. 

Three different wetland habitat credit types are available at the BPMB and include Wet to Wet Mesic Prairie, Sedge Meadow and Shallow Marsh.
