PONDEROSA RANCH OF POINTE COUPEE MITIGATION BANK, an area of land off False River, formerly served as a cattle production site. Since its 2013 restoration, the wetlands became a flourishing home to deer, waterfowl, ducks, and, in 2020, for the first time in many years, black bears. This site’s unique series of ridges and swales provide an important mosaic of wetlands and uplands. As part of a larger assemblage of restored wetlands, Ponderosa Ranch of Pointe Coupee provides even greater ecological value to the area.
