BAYOU MARINGOUIN MITIGATION BANK, in the Terrebonne watershed, is a narrow, linear tract that runs along the Mississippi River outside the Atchafalaya levee system. Delta Land Services’ first approved umbrella bank, Bayou Maringouin was constructed in 2018. EIP and Delta have since partnered to restore the natural wetlands of this former soybean farm. Although much of the Mississippi River region hosts a large amount of development, the Bayou Maringouin Mitigation Bank is nestled in a continuous tract of wetlands and forest, which increases the ecological benefit of the restoration. It is connected to Bayou Maringouin Ramah Tract Mitigation Bank.
